Over 500 games now submitted to iOS App Store every day
Have you ever wondered how many mobile games are submitted to the iOS App Store every month?
Well, you can find out the answer by paying a visit to PG.biz's iOS App Store Metrics page, which has been keeping tabs on that exact stat since the App Store opened.
Having so much data in one place makes it easy to see how the mobile industry has evolved over the past eight years. For example, when PG.biz first started tracking data in July 2008, they only recorded a paltry 258 games submissions for the entire month.
Fast-forward to 2016, and, after crunching some numbers, you'll see that the App Store received 618 games submissions each and every day throughout January.
Although the exact total fluctuates each month, since December 2015 there have consistently been over 500 games submitted every single day. This is well in line with research conducted by TinyBuild talent scout (and former Gamasutra editor) Mike Rose, who noted in a GDC talk last year that even in 2014 the iOS App Store saw an average of 500 new games launched per day.
In total, PG.biz's records suggest that exactly 551,591 games have been submitted since the App Store opened for business on July 10, 2008.
You can check the numbers yourself over on PG.biz.
