Video: Tackle tough subjects via fun games with meaningful cores
Nuclear war.
Nuclear war. Immigration. Water scarcity. These topics and more are typically addressed by -- and associated with -- serious news stories and strident opinion pieces, not fun and engaging video games.
Swiss developer Blindflug Studios believes that should change. At GDC Europe 2015, Blindflug designer Tabea Iseli took the stage to showcase how the studio has found success making fun games, like First Strike , driven by meaningful cores that help shed light on complex but important issues.
Iseli went on to explain how Blindflug has made a business out of talking about real-world dilemmas through game design, and how the studio goes about creating credible, touching, enjoyable games that also inform players about delicate topics and help them empathize with those involved.
