IGDA Playtest Winner Splemy Coming to Windows Phone This Month
The winner of the IGDA playtest and BAFTA-nominated (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) game Splemy is bouncing over to Windows Phone devices this March.
Splemy is a bouncy little yellow person “born out of the primordial soup.” In this physics-based puzzle platformer, the player stretches Splemy and then launches him around, collecting little Lills on the way. While evading deadly obstacles and unfriendly creatures, Splemy sling-shoots around using helpful objects in the environment – like fans and portals – to complete around 75 levels.
The game originated as a 48-hour Global Game Jam project called Sh plem . This is studio Formerdroid Ltd’s first project venture, backed by Microsoft’s “Bizspark” and “App Campus” initiatives.
Splemy is coming out sometime this month for Windows Phone as a timed exclusive, but will become available for other platforms 3 months after. Check out the great graphics and music, along with the zany levels, in the gameplay trailer above.
