Ashes Cricket 2013 cancelled following poor user reviews

Publisher 505 Games has been forced to cancel any further development of the official Ashes Cricket game after its release, in a bid to protect the licensor from the awful quality of the title.

Ashes Cricket 2013 , developed by Melbourne-based studio Trickstar Games, was released earlier this month for PC via Steam, and quickly received a long string of poor reviews from critics and users alike.

The game was pulled from Steam earlier this week, and publisher 505 Games has now confirmed that the game will not be developed any further, and has instead been pulled indefinitely.

"The chosen developer, even with their many years of cricket game development experience, was unable to overcome the unexpected challenges that the chosen game engine threw up, even with multiple extensions to the development schedule," the company said in a statement.

The game was in development for around two years, and had the backing of the England and Wales Cricket Board, and Cricket Australia. 505 admitted that it has let both of these organizations down, and was eager to stress that anyone who bought the game will be given a full refund.

"505 Games prides itself on being a safe pair of hands on which gamers of all tastes and denominations can rely to put their best foot forward to create compelling gaming experiences," said the company. "It is clear that, in this instance, we have fallen way short of our stated aims and failed to deliver."
