Labyrinth of Druids: Dark Fantasy And Horror MMORPG Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft

Labyrinth of Druids (LoD) is a dark fantasy and horror MMORPG that is heavily inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s settings and stories, providing a unique sort of survival challenge for players to experience.

LoD is being developed by MidDream Studios, which is lead by Michael Krča — the sole developer who is currently wearing multiple game development hats. The world of LoD will strive to make players question their senses and their sanity as they explore this dark and dangerous world, which is deeply rooted in ancient Egyptian and Celtic mythology.

Labyrinth of Druids puts players in control of a character who is uncertain of how they reached this world, and who they even are. What they soon discover, however, is that they are an extraordinary human known as a “druid” with the power to shape shift into animals and cast elemental magic. Players can learn more spells, but it requires fulfilling a quest and earning the favor of the gods. Dangers permeate most of this world, which does not even include the PvP encounters that can occur. PvP encounters can happen as a result of a two faction system where players must decide who to side with.

These other dangers can also include monster-infested dungeons where the halls seem to shift, and the exit appears to disappear. There’s even an invisible disease within the game that will freeze players in place if they are unable to cure themselves in time. The only thing left to do is wait until someone grants a mercy killing, which allows the player to respawn. However, this is a risky decision. While this will provide the killing player with honor points, there’s also a good chance that they will be infected as a result of the killing.

Labyrinth of Druids is in it’s earliest stages of development, with a Kickstarter campaign being planned for March. MidDream Studios hopes that this game will bring a new perspective to the MMORPG genre, mixing standard gameplay mechanics with survival and horror gameplay features.
