Ira Blends the Past and Present with a Surreal Touch

My knowledge of outer space, beyond basics, is limited to stuff about time moving slower when it’s further from something and bending around- never mind, let’s just shift our focus to Ira , a point-and-click adventure which arrived on Kickstarter and takes a few pages from the science textbook.

Ira is an adventure about a young man embarking on a space exploration trip to an unknown solar system. Ira ventures with a team of scientists, but mysteriously finds himself awake and alone on the ship. From there, three different storylines intertwine, as players learn more about Ira’s childhood, navigate the solar system as the present day man, and uncover the events of the original exploration crew.

Classic point-and-click mechanics are combined with a lot of game-affecting dialogue options. Ira will interact with the environment using items from his inventory while solving puzzles to shed light on the narrative. Speaking and interacting with characters is a major mechanic that allows players to shape the tone of the story to a certain extent. Ira himself will change somewhat as well, depending on the players’ input.

The Kickstarter campaign’s goalis $68,200 USD. Pledging $10 for the Early Bird discount tier gets a DRM-free copy of Ira , while $20 (also discounted for a limited time) nets additional goodies in the form of the soundtrack and a digital art book. The last reward tier, for $89, is limited in quantity and offers a vinyl record with the game’s soundtrack, a rocket poster, and an Ira art and development book.

To get a taste of the surreal point-and-click adventure before donating, Ore Creative put up a demo on their website, which can be played in-browser using the Unity player. Ira has already been Greenlitby the Steam community, and is targeting a launch date of early 2016 for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
