Video: One hour, five concentrated shots of VR game design advice
As game developeres explore the possibilities of modern virtual reality hardware, some are looking beyond the bounds of game design for fresh insight.
At the inaugural Virtual Reality Developers Conference, which took place alongside GDC 2016, five VR experts from a variety of creative backgrounds shared practical advice collected from exploring VR and examining where the artistic possibilities overlap with the technical.
It was a great talk for anyone interested in the possibilities of VR, as the speakers (Timbre Interactive's Samantha Kalman, Temple Gate Games' Theresa Duringer, Turbo Button's Holden Link, Frame Interactive's Ben Throop and Uber Entertainment's Chandana Ekanayake) shared useful lessons learned about everything from bad UI/UX, to the possibilities of nonliteral spaces, to the principles of building immersion in virtual reality.
