franchise. Together, they created, a bubble shooter which quickly became iconic for the genre. The game was downloaded more than five million times during its first four weeks of release.
Now, as June looms on the horizon, the indie developer is thrilled to be celebrating its fourth birthday. The company was first established in 2011 in Dundee, Scotland, by Douglas and Richard Hare, a pair of seasoned veterans of the gaming industry. Since that time they have grown exponentially, boasting more than 80 team members from 19 different countries, and have released a number of award-winning games. To celebrate the occasion, they plan on releasing four new games this year.
“In four short years, Outplay has become a leader in the highly competitive mobile games market through hard work and with extremely talented teams leading the way,” says Douglas Hare, the CEO of Outplay Entertainment. “We have already released two award-winning titles this year. With four new titles in the pipeline for 2015, we are poised for transformational success as we continue our commitment to listening to what players want, learning from everything we do, and adding just a bit of our own secret sauce.”
The team is being a little hush-hush about the exact nature of the anniversary games. However, they will admit that two of them are being crafted with casual puzzle gamers in mind; the other two are being aimed at their growing mid-core RPG and strategy audience. Between the four titles, Outplay anticipates a combined 40 million downloads by the dawn of 2016.
