released in 2013, is a color organizing game that has been downloaded over 6 million times. The game creators even managed to make Blendoku accessible to colorblind players by providing an option to choose an underlying color wheel for the game that they could comfortably navigate.

Now the developer, Lonely Few, has released a sequel. Blendoku 2 “ taps into the human need to organize crayons by color” as players create color sequences that work both horizontally and vertically. It keeps the mechanics of the original, while adding 500 new levels, new music, a new ranking system, turn-based multiplayer, and painting mode. Painting mode features the work of classical masters, drawing from the color palette of their greatest paintings.

Based on color principles grounded in artistic education techniques, Blendoku 2 is also a way to learn color theory, providing a broad range of difficulties in its gameplay.

Lonely Few co-founder Rod Green says the game has proved popular with both artists and educators, and its soothing qualities have even had mental health benefits: “we’ve even had some fans who are veterans say they use the game to calm down their PTSD, which is amazing.”
