Today, Autodesk has announced that its Stingray game engine will launch on August 19, for a subscription fee of $30 a month. Later in the summer, the company plans to make the engine available free-of-charge to subscribers of its Maya LTmodeling package.
The Stingray engine is built on the foundation of the Bitsquid engine; the company acquired Bitsquid last year, and announced its plans for the engineat this past GDC.
Stingray offers an upgrade to the Bitsquid tech, including one-click art workflows from Autodesk's art programs, unsurprisingly. It can deploy products onto iOS, Android, Windows, Oculus Rift, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
You can find out more at Autodesk's Stingray site.
