Boulder Dash – 30th Anniversary Action-Puzzler Sequel

TapStar Interactive, and co-developer First Star Software, Inc. recently released Boulder Dash – 30th Anniversary , the first ever freemium game within the series. The game is an action-puzzler that remains true to the original classic gameplay, with added features and controls that offer a new twist to the game’s many levels, and several new puzzles.

Boulder Dash offers 200+ all new levels and 11 worlds. Most of the levels, 160 to be exact, are available for free, while the others must be purchased within the app. This is the first collaboration by Peter Liepa and Chris Gray since the original 1984 game was released. In honor of this, the game also offers several remastered versions of the caves from the original game.

The core gameplay tasks players with digging through the dirt and dealing with the boulders spread throughout the cave. These rocks could easily break through a thin layer of earth, and crush the player if they aren’t too careful. The development team then added diagonal movement and a number of ramps in each cave for both added variety, and to give the game a new look. There are also new creatures that patrol the levels, and new gem combos for higher scores.

Boulder Dash – 30th Anniversary is currently available for iOS and Android tablets and smartphones, with PC, Mac, and select gaming consoles following in 2015. Gamers can learn more about this collaborative effort, and upcoming games, by following TapStar Interactive on Twitterand Facebook.
