is designed to help children practise their multiplication and division skills within a fun, interactive setting. Munich-based appp media began developing apps in 2011 during a time when educational apps for kids were scarce. Their apps are designed by primary school teacher Kristin Heitmann and programmed by Jan Massberg, both parents themselves who wanted greater availability of family friendly apps.
Understanding Math-Times Tables , which is based on J.Bruner’s “Three Modes of Representation”learning theory, takes full advantage of the touch screen feature via a range of features. The Hundred Board allows users to solve problems by pulling the sheet with their fingers, and teaches the commutative property of multiplication (4×8 is equivalent to 8×4). Multiplication and division put a different spin on problem solving, requiring users to tap the screen three times with four fingers (3×4), or dragging objects into boxes in the case of division questions.
There are also training and duel options available, the latter allowing two players to compete against one another while choosing an appropriate difficulty level.
