Two gaming oriented charities, AbleGamers and Play to Give Back, have joined forces and announced the launch of Driving Home Accessibility. This new initiative will help bring disabled gamers the assistance they need to enjoy their hobby to the fullest. The goal is to raise $200,000 and construct a “miracle on wheels” that can be loaded down with assistive technology, electronics, and video game systems that can be taken to children’s hospitals, veteran centers, and long term assisted-living facilities all across the country.
On May 30, this project will kick off with a 12-hour Mario Kart 8 marathon, and September 12 will see the start of a three-day streaming event of the Driving Home Accessibility. On October 18, the 2nd annual AbleGamers Day Event will be held at the charity’s Washington, DC headquarters. Then, from May to October we will see new events, each being better than its predecessor, and support from industry leaders, to help raise money for the project.
Those that would like to get active in this admirable project can visit the site here, which has information on joining the scheduled streams so that you can add your support to the fundraising. Be sure to check out AbleGamersand Play to Give Backfor more information on both charities, and ways to provide your support.
