Indie Prize is an event that frequently showcases indie talent from all over the world, giving any developer an opportunity to show their game and take it to the next level. The next showcase is actually happening soon in Amsterdam, from February 4-6.
Participants have to go through a number of steps in order to be considered for Indie Prize. Once the game is developed (and the website offers a handy list of links to useful sources) and the presskit is up, it’s submitted through a website. Some requirements to keep in mind are that the team needs to be less than 30 people, and the studio needs to own 75 percent or more of its IP. Those qualified receive the Indie Prize Scholarship, which grants opportunities to learn from seasoned developers and to network. All the workshops and showcase fees and venues are sponsored by the event.

While as of now it is too late to submit an application for the Amsterdam showcase, it’s a valuable event to study as an aspiring or practicing game developer. Every few months, Indie Prize travels to a different city in the world; the next convention happens in May 2015 in Singapore and then in San Francisco, USA, in July 2015.
Several judges and critics gather to award prizes to indie developers, and voters cast support for an “Audience Choice” selection. The Indie Prize websitefeatures complete information of all the past winners and participants, how to enter, and what games will be showcased at the upcoming Amsterdam event.
