Screenshot Weekly – Detective Uncovers Face Snatchers Deep Under the Sky

Deep Under The Sky

Described as an “alien jellyfish documentary,” the folks behind Incredipede and Pineapple Smash Crew are hard at work putting the finishing touches on Deep Under The Sky . According to the devs,  “ Deep Under The Sky is Rich Edwards and Colin Northway’s beautiful and deep answer to the question: how far can you take a game that only uses one button? D.U.T.S follows the plight of a previously unknown creature: the weird and wonderful Venusian Jellyfish. The goal is to launch small clones into the vibrant landscape and make contact with scattered targets. A single binary input activates a range of abilities, one after the other. By altering the timing of presses an unexpectedly large range of fluid motion takes place, and the player must intuitively work out how to reach the goals.” The game is due out on iOS and Android tomorrow, and will release on PC and Mac on August 22. Detective Dixie and The Revenge of Wishteria

Jinkies! There seems to be a growing trend for female-led mystery games afoot, and I have to say, I’m all for it. Detective Dixie and the Revenge of Wishteria is a new project currently in development by the folks at Giant Leap Studio, hailing all the way from Indonesia. Looking to seamlessly blend the tried-and-true puzzle and mystery formula, Detective Dixie is discovering a piece of the genre uniquely hers, thanks to an emphasis on demanding that “the player act like a real detective.” That’s right, no more “Detective Vision” to answer all your questions, or calling your ghost medium companion to solve all your problems. If Dixie wants to crack the case, she’ll have to do so by collecting clues, interrogating suspects, and trotting all across the magical realm of Wishteria. Face Invaders

“ Face Invaders is an arcade-style iOS game which allows players to put their own face on their in-game character. The player is then attacked by endless waves of increasingly nasty aliens and terrifying stinky bosses. Each enemy requires a specific touch input to destroy so the gameplay is a frantic mix of tapping, slashing and squishing. It’s kind of like ‘ Fruit Ninja ,’ except without the fruit… or the ninja.” The devs at Electric Mammoth Studios also note that completing missions will unlock abilities to help further your place on the leaderboard, before adding that “ Face Invaders is dripping with sci-fi goodness including lovingly crafted art and music that pay homage to the golden age of intergalactic adventure. It features wonderfully simple gameplay and gorgeous cartoony graphics that make it a hit with kids and it will have no adds or in-App purchases. Ever.” Android and Windows Phone versions are also in the works.
