Planet of the Eyes is Watching Your Every Step
A proper atmosphere is one of the most sought-after aspects of a good indie game, and Planet of the Eyes m akes every effort to establish one.
akes every effort to establish one. The sci-fi platformer takes place on a lonely planet where danger lurks around crevice.
The star of Planet of the Eyes is a lone exploration robot, who crashes its escape pod on an alien planet. The robot then searches for a pulsing signal it has detected. During the trip, scattered audio logs are found to have been left behind by an unknown fellow survivor. It’s up to the player to survive and discover what fate awaits the two adventurers, and what secrets the planet itself may hold.
Featuring action-driven platforming, Planet of the Eyes mixes atmospheric gameplay with skilled maneuvering and puzzle-solving. Most of the riddles are physics-driven, so experimentation is encouraged. However, death isn’t very punishing in the game. The player re-spawns quickly, and there are over a dozen unique death animations for the robotic hero; the creators encourage the player to experience all of these animations at least once.
Author Will O’Neill ( Actual Sunlight )prepared a mysterious story for the game. The tale is accompanied by Alex Lewis’ narration and a haunting soundtrack created by John Black of CypherAudio.
Canadian studio Cococucumber released Planet of the Eyes earlier this week. It’s available now for Windows on Steam, retailing for $7.99 (20% discount for a limited time). Follow the devs on Twitter, and “like” their Facebookfor more information.
