Reverse Gravity for Free With Nate’s Ascent on iOS

Nate’s Ascent , from developer Cordless Software, follows the trials of Nate McClusky as he navigates through an alien environment.

, from developer Cordless Software, follows the trials of Nate McClusky as he navigates through an alien environment. Assisting him is a strange, pink spaceship that puts one in mind of an artist’s rendition of a cell, found in Biology textbooks everywhere. It is this ship that lets Nate flip gravity, and also functions as the main vehicle (heh) for the game’s story.

Gameplay involves simple platforming, and the controls are extremely minimal; Tap to jump, and tap again while in mid-air to reverse gravity. How well this system will work remains to be seen.

Cordless Software is a two man team, with Andrew Knight and Joshua Ray Stephens responsible for creating the entire game in just six months. Joshua was the man who created the game’s art, which itself seems to be a throwback to older styles of comic artwork. Nate’s Ascent even has 13 comic pages, which presumably explain the story. In addition to the comic, the game has 64 levels, an endless mode if the player feels like never stopping, and original music.

Nate’s Ascent is free for iPhone and iPad (no word on other platforms yet), though it does feature in-app purchases. Readers can learn more about the game from its website, Facebook page, and iTunes, where the game can be downloaded now.
