Fans of sandbox adventures have yet another title on their plates, this time set in space.
Fans of sandbox adventures have yet another title on their plates, this time set in space. A planet full of unforeseen dangers awaits those who don’t craft in preparation…
Edge of Space tells the story of Ark Corporation Operatives who are on the lookout for habitable planets. While the astronauts are in cryosleep, the ship veers off course, then crashes on an alien planet. The operatives discover a strange world inhabited by aggressive creatures and many minerals. As they start gathering resources, they begin building an increasingly complex base, with better equipment.
The sandbox game features dynamically-generated terrains with many caverns, possible wormhole anomalies, and rare resources. Alien creatures defend the land, like penguins on jetpacks, sharks with lasers, and many more. To combat them, players can build custom rocket launchers, rifles, and melee weapons like swords and axes. Players have to focus on adapting to the environment, researching new upgrades and building up their command centers over time.
Terraria fans have something more to see other than genre similarities. Edge of Space features some content from Terraria , such as the Molten Armor set and the Eater of the Worlds pet.
HandyMan Studios kept Edge of Space in Early Access for over two years — 27 months specifically — and accounted for lots of fan feedback.: “We utilized Steam Early Access the way it was intended and now you can expect a massive roadmap of content to continue expanding the Edge of Space universe,” Jacob Crane, lead designer and co-founder of Handyman Studios, said.
Edge of Space recently went full-retail on Steamwith a 27% discount, currently selling for $10.94 (down from $14.99). The sale lasts until September 24th. A special edition and a four-pack are also available.
