Final Breath Relaunches on Kickstarter
In December 2014, IGM had a preview of a game called One Final Breath , an exploration horror game set in an abandoned boarding school.
, an exploration horror game set in an abandoned boarding school. After several attempts to get the Kickstarter ball rolling on the project, Dark Day Interactivehas re-launched the campaignfor their game, now named Final Breath . Players will search for a lost daughter, learn about a dark past, and hopefully survive using only their wits and a smartphone.
A girl has gone missing, run away from her mother’s house to visit a friend. She has done this many times, creating a nuisance of herself for her divorced parents. The difference between this and a more benign story is that this daughter is running away to her abandoned former boarding school, and the friend she is visiting doesn’t seem to exist.
St. Mary’s Boarding School was once a hospital, and when the little girl disappears inside during her latest runaway, it’s up to her father to explore the halls, piece together the clues he finds, and locate his daughter before it’s too late to bring her home alive. Players use a cell phone as a tracker as well as a viewer for hidden clues and paths, revealing text that can either guide or harm them. Will the father find out what he needs to know, saving his daughter? Or will he learn too much and put both their lives in danger?
Final Breath is currently seeking a base goal of $5,000 AUD ($3729 USD). It’s being developed using Unreal 4, with support for Xbox, Playstation, and Oculus among the stretch goals. Reward tiers range from $1 AUD for a wallpaper background and $9 AUD for the full game to $900 AUD to become a playable character in the game. Previous Kickstarter campaigns were aimed at bringing a longer main game to players, but since then, Dark Day Interactive has decided to make Final Breath episodic, reducing the goal and hopefully making it more likely for the game to come to fruition. Veteran voice actors Amber Lee Connors and Edwyn Tiong (both known for Dust: An Elysian Tale ) have been part of the project from day one.
The Kickstartercampaign ends on August 9, with the game’s release slated for October 2015. Follow Dark Day Interactive on Twitterfor more information.
