Kickstart This: Everspace, A Rogue-Like Space Shooter

Some Kickstarter campaigns are out of this world, quite literally.

Some Kickstarter campaigns are out of this world, quite literally. One such campaign comes from ROCKFISH games, who are looking to raise €225,000 (approx. $250,000 USD) for their single-player rogue-like 3D space shooter,. It’s currently planned for a PC release, but additional platforms are possible with the campaign’s stretch goals.

The concept of EVERSPACE is simple: Reach a destination. However, as is the way with rogue-like gaming, each playthrough will be completely different from the last. At the start of each run, the game plots a different goal for gamers to reach, and there are a number of different ways to get there. This will include first- and third-person flying, combat, gathering resources and blueprints, and crafting devices and stat-boosting attributes that can be used to improve a ship before starting the next run. In rogue-likes, death is never the end; it’s just a chance to improve.

“Space is a dangerous place,” but as EVERSPACE is being developed using Unreal Engine 4, it’s potentially also going to be beautiful. EVERSPACE will only be experienced on Windows PCs, currently, but if the campaign reaches its stretch goals, there are also plans for Mac and Linux support. PS4 and Xbox One versions are slated if the campaign manages to reach €725,000 (approx. $800,000 USD).

For those that like the sound of rogue-like space-shooter action, head to the ROCKFISH Games’ Kickstarter campaign, which has 10 days left to reach its goal. More information can also be found on the official website, Facebookand Twitter, where people can get in touch with the studio.
