Technobabylon Receives Commercial Release this Spring
You may be familiar with the dystopian cyberpunk point-and-click adventure Techonobabylon, which was originally developed by James Dearden.
which was originally developed by James Dearden. It was planned to be an episodic series of 8 freeware installments; three of which were actually released. Now, developer Technocrat has partnered with Wadjet Eye Games (creator of the Blackwell mystery games and publisher of Gemini Rue ) to revamp the story and gameplay for a commercial release this upcoming spring.
Yesterday, the team introduced one of the three playable characters pictured above: Dr. Charlie Regis, a geneticist and CEL Case Specialist. His wife’s death 20 years ago still haunts him today, as the tragedies of his past return. In this dystopian future, genetic engineering has become commonplace and the need for human interaction is minimal, as an omnipresent AI named Central powers the city.
The story of all three characters is presented using classic pixel-art visuals, and is set in a point-and-click gaming style that has recently seen a huge resurgence in the indie scene. Technobabylon will also featur pixel art by Ben Chandler, and professional voice acting to go along with the already intense narrative that the original episodes have become known for.
There is no price point announced as of yet, however, Technobabylon will be launching for PC in the Spring of 2015, with Mac and Linux versions already on the way.
