IGM Forum Finds: Ama’s Lullaby

In the world of survival RPGs, fantastical worlds and tragic main characters aren’t that uncommon.

In the world of survival RPGs, fantastical worlds and tragic main characters aren’t that uncommon. In the world of indie games, sometimes style is sacrificed for substance, and vice-versa. Ama’s Lullaby hopes to change that with a cyberpunk offering full of ambition.

The featured video consists of tests by the development team, as there’s not yet a playable prototype, but the promise shown and the passion displayed by the Paris-based group makes this a game to watch. They’re currently seeking support for fundraising, and if you like the previews here and on(where updates will also be shown), let them know!

You play as Ama, a cyborg created as a sacrifice for the continuation of mankind in a post-apocalyptic world. After escaping from your creators and meeting Bran (a lone survivor in the wasteland) , your personal fight for survival begins. Learning about the world, fighting battles, and forming relationships are an integral part of this game, and are the driving force behind Ama’s motivation to save herself.

Featuring a free-roaming system and turn-based combat, Ama’s Lullaby may remind some of the later Final Fantasy games, but the story style they’re going for is more akin to Blade Runner and The Road Warrior: Mad Max .
