It’s Dangerous to be Home Alone in Absention
Dream Wave Games recently debuted a trailer for their upcoming horror-survival mystery titled Absention .
. In it, the player character inherits a lake house from their father who apparently disappears. After a long day of travel to get to the house, the player falls asleep, only to be disturbed by the chiming of the grandfather clock mid-dream. Upon inspecting the clock, they find that they’re being watched by a macabre being, standing behind them. This ends up only being a nightmare, but dreams soon bleed to reality when the player finds themselves trapped in a loop, repeating the same day over and over, much like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day .
The team also plans to support Oculus Rift, and the game will be powered by Unreal Engine 4. It is currently in pre-Alpha, meaning most of the core of the game is blocked out with basic level assets, with only a few polished to create the game trailer. The game will feature environments that contain puzzles and elements for inspection, allowing players to explore and survive in a mansion plagued by random game events. A Steam Greenlight Conceptpage has been created, so Steam users may bookmark the project for when it goes to Greenlight. Any votes while it remains as a Greenlight Concepts page won’t go toward getting the game on Steam, it just shows the developers that people are interested. For updates on the project, the developer can be tracked through Facebook, Twitter, their development blog, and the official game website.
