Hardcore RPG Wave of Darkness Continues the Trilogy
A new action RPG trilogy is fighting back against not only the hordes of monsters that inhabit its digital landscape, but also the “current trends of the industry making streamlined and dumbed-down games,” as its Kickstarter video posits.
Wave of Darkness , the second of three games, is campaigning on Kickstarter to improve the game even more over its predecessor, Legends of Dawn .
In Wave of Darkness , unsettling events point to short-lasting peace in Narr. With Korden Fall attacked and Kordelis dead, reports come around that unusual monsters are resurfacing at the swamps once more. Heroes are called to the city of Sidis Tarea to gather and defeat the darkness. But while there is a central plot to this RPG, it offers a swathe of optional content that is said to round out to about 70 hours; distant lands with exotic creatures to defeat, puzzles to solve, and quests from NPCs to complete make up the majority of things to do in Wave of Darkness .
Weaved into its content are a bevy of systems to satisfy hardcore RPG devotees. Gods play a big role in them, as there are shrines for three different ones. Players can offer items as tribute to gain special benefits and buffs. In comparison to the previous game, the crafting system has been expanded with improved tooltips. Among the types previously possible to put together, players can forge blessed items with limited-time boosts on their gear. Furthermore, there’s a spell crafting system to make original magic from runes.
The developer, Dreamatrix, wants to acknowledge fans who contributed money to their previous campaign, Legends of Dawn , offering a second copy of Wave of Darkness for those who pledge $15 or more to the newer game. They also want to show appreciation to backers who donate $1 or $5 by gifting them other in-house games from the Spaceforce series. Those additional rewards may be shipped as soon as the studio reaches an agreement with Humble Bundle, which may be well before the release of Wave of Darkness .
Dreamatrix plans to enter Wave of Darkness into Steam Early Access as soon as the crowdfunding campaignis finished. They estimate releasing the RPG in August of this year. Check out the developer’s websitefor more information on both titles.
