is an action-adventure platformer using 2D pixel sprite graphics to portray a vast pre-historic world, and the main character, the caveman. Developed over the course of a year by Nauris Amatnieks, the game promises to provide simple yet challenging gameplay across many different levels and areas of the world, as well as a face-off against deadly dinosaurs. IGM covered a bit of the game back in December of 2014, here.
There Was A Caveman follows the simple story of a caveman looking to procreate and rebuild cavemen civilization. He goes to great lengths to find a female, swimming underwater, jumping and swinging on vines through the jungle, and even exploring the vast insides of a dinosaur. Enemies are in ample supply as the caveman meets pterodactyls, fights zombie dinosaurs, and even encounters an overgrown squid. Using only his trusty club and a throwing weapon, the caveman must meet and survive these dangers with a limited amount of HP. This is especially crucial to deal with during boss battles, as players must avoid a large amount of damage from different sources.
There Was A Caveman is currently available for Windows computers on Steamfor $6.99 (on sale for $6.29 until October 15th). For more information, follow Nauris on Twitter.
