Screenshot Weekly – Gravity Has a Bad Taste in Space
Welcome back to Screenshot Weekly !
! Every Tuesday, IGM brings you exclusive looks at upcoming games in various stages of development. The featured image introducing each game will always be original, and made especially for IGM, so you’ll see them for the first time right here! (Make sure to click the pics to see them in their full screen glory.) Without further ado, let’s take a look at this week’s screenshots:
Bad Taste
You really do learn something new every day (at least I try to, anyway). Produced by Celx Requin, “ Bad Taste is a loving send up, and homage of trash cinema. The story revolves around police officer ‘Chet,’ as he tries to escape the city of Victoria BC before it’s nuked to eradicate a zombie epidemic caused by genetically modified fast food.” I’d never heard the phrase ‘trash cinema’ before today, so that was… interesting to research. (I’m not really a horror/slasher kind of guy.) Requin also noted that “the game stars Spencer Rice ( Kenny vs Spenny) as ‘Chet’, and has cameo’s by Kenneth Hotz ( Kenny Vs Spenny ) and Lloyd Kaufman ( Toxic Avenger , Poultrygeist ).” Features include 20 levels of “insane zombie action,” 5 different bosses to fight against, over 40 monster types to battle, plus several different weapons and items to unlock, and fully animated cinematics. The blood red cherry on top comes courtesy of the soundtrack composed by Finnish band Lodger. More info can be found on the game’s Greenlightpage.
Gravity Hero
The development team at Binary Panda Games is close to launching their new project, Gravity Hero . In a nutshell, the team describe the game as “a 3D action and adventure shooter game set on a 2D plane.” To get more into the specifics, players will be tasked with piloting a heavily armed, gravity- affected spacecraft – in the year 3041 – in an effort to rescue stranded miners by beaming them aboard. But because that sounds easier than running a mile in The Flash’s shoes, players will also have to complete dangerous missions to repel the alien Krug threat to Earth’s strategic outposts. Why are the Krug even after Earth? According to the team, “Earth’s government issued an order to search out planets and asteroids ripe for harvesting and capable of supplying Earth’s needs. However, upon colonization it quickly became apparent that we were not the only intelligent life form in the universe, nor were we the only planet with dramatic resource needs.” Additional details about the mobile game can be found on the game’s official website.
Negspace
According to solo developer Pablo Pencha, “ Negspace is an extremely fast-paced, physics-based, hotseat dogfighter (up to 4 players split-screen) with a minimalist approach to controls and graphics.” (Not to be confused with ‘nag space,’ which is what the living room transforms into when the wife gets home. Eh? Eh?? This is why I’m still single…) Looking to set itself apart from the other space-themed games out there, Pencha explained that “the game challenges the playerss preconceptions of video game space maneuvering by simulating translational and rotational inertia, also resulting in a distinct, deeply gratifying zero-g feeling.” NERD. In all seriousness, the game is looking to give off a unique vibe. Secondary features include an immersive field of view, one-shot, explosive split-second frags, and real-time ship boardings (and pod ejections). Those interested in getting the latest Negspace project updates can head over to the TIGsource devlog. You can also check out the game on Twitterand Facebook.
