iPollute Tackles the Serious Concern of Pollution with Fun Clay Animation

Everyday here at IGM, we are presented with an array of games that are reshaping and presenting new ways the medium can portray ideas and stories.

iPollute by Crafty Arcade is a game that exemplifies the scope of themes that can be presented in the soemtimes simplistic format of a video game.

Described as a ‘Green Puzzle Game’, you are in complete control of an entire valley, and are allowed to do what you wish with it. Nonetheless, whatever you choose to do with the valley, regardless of what you think is right, may result in a good or bad consequences. You can build a waste dump, that would result in acid rain, or create a filtration system that restores water. Even after the damage is done, there is still room and creativity to heal the environment. The game raises an insightful question of what your own choices make on the environment, and if you can make a difference to fix the wrongs.

iPollute is a charming game to look at, with completely animated clay visuals (even the user interface is made of clay), it’s cartoony, bubbly, and fun. In contrast to its fun visuals, iPollute demonstrates quite a real and, some could consider, dark-themed game – capitalizing on the consequences of mankind and how they treat the planet.

Father-daughter studio Crafty Arcade has created a fun, interactive game to convey a very serious message without being being preachy or abrasive. iPollute is being distributed by Bulky Pixfor iOS, and is available today for $2.99 in the App Store.
