Award-Winning Author Joins Daedalic Team

IGM has previously reported on the game Munin , from German developer and publisher Daedalic Entertainment .

. The developers have created many well-received games, such as Fire , Silence , and Deponia . It holds a unique place in Germany’s media industry thanks to its famous Writer’s Room, the cadre of authors who help to write the stories for their games. They specialize in multiplatform narrative-driven games and have won 21 German Game Developer Awards, including a two-time win for Studio of the Year.

Now, they are excited to announce a new addition to the Writer’s Room, as they welcome celebrated author Martin Ganteföhrto their stable of writers. Ganteföhr is the founder of and writer for House of Tales Entertainment, the first German game studio to specialize in literary adventure games. He is the driving force behind the psycho-thriller stories The Moment of Silence and Overclocked , both of which feature intriguing narratives and structures. He has also written game adaptations of popular television shows, including The X-Files.

“Martin Ganteföhr will be able to work with maximum creative freedom to craft a game fully in the spirit of his previous adventures,” confirms Daedalic’s founder and CEO Carsten Fichtelmann. “With this new addition, Daedalic not only adds another high quality narrative presence to our Writer’s Room, but we can also work with a valued colleague once again.”

“The idea of us working together has long been in the back of our minds, since we share the same view of games as a strong narrative medium,” adds Ganteföhr. “The creativity, consequence and sheer joy Daedalic focuses on the narrative genre is unrivaled here, and probably worldwide. I’m looking forward to contributing to their philosophy by integrating some of my core design ideals.”

The exact nature of the project on which Ganteföhr will be working with Daedalic is yet unannounced, but it promises to be exciting. More information about the collaboration is expected to be revealed in the coming months. Follow Daedalic on Twitteror Facebookto be among the first to know what they have planned.
