Game of Thrones Ascent Expands with Fire & Blood
Let’s be honest – there aren’t too many things on television these days that could be considered a hotter commodity than Game of Thrones , the epic adaptation of George R.
, the epic adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s popular book series A Song of Ice and Fire . Bringing the franchise to the indie gamer population, developer Disruptor Beamtranslated the series into a hit game for web and mobile titled Game of Thrones Ascent . Now, with the series entering its fifth season, they felt it was the perfect time to launch the game’s second expansion, Fire & Blood.
In Game of Thrones Ascent , fans take on the role of a noble living in the fictional kingdom of Westeros. They ally with or betray one another, immersing themselves in the lore of the realm and developing their own noble house while currying the attention and favor of the Great Houses. The game offers thousands of story-driven quests that let the players try their hand at the delicate nuances of Westerosi politics, in the hopes of laying claim to the greatest prize of all – the Iron Throne itself.
Like Daenerys Targaryen, the “mother of dragons,” players can find and hatch a dragon egg of their very own. This factors into the allure of the Fire & Blood expansion, which will permit the players to evolve their baby dragons into young adolescents. They will also have access to the new Dragon Pit building, which utilizes a standard RPG crafting system to allow players to hatch and evolve their dragons in less time and in different ways, according to various recipes. The expansion further introduces the Great Hall, a building upgrade for the player’s home fortress, which provides important bonuses such as decreased crafting times and recipes for valuable resources.
The game will follow the new season, as it did with previous seasons. Players can watch the newest episode, then enter the game on the following day to experience new content, quests, and items that relate to the episode they just watched. The all-new interactive map allows them to follow in the footsteps of the characters in the show, be it Robb Stark’s march on King’s Landing or Daenerys breaking the chains of the Unsullied. The expansion is also the debut of Tales of Ice and Fire , a brand-new system of completing tasks and collecting rewards; players can compare their results with their fellow players through the use of the Tales -specific leaderboard.
Game of Thrones Ascent is free to play, with optional in-app purchases, and the Fire & Blood expansion launched on April 23. Those who would contend for the Iron Throne would do well to muster their forces and storm the gates of Facebook, Kongregate, the App Store, the Google Play Store, or DisruptorBeam.com.
