Explore, Transform Oneiric Worlds in ESSENCE

While memory loss in real life is cause for despair, in the worlds of ESSENCE , a new game under development by the German studio ONEVISION, it is an invitation to discover and awaken an entirely new universe.

, a new game under development by the German studio ONEVISION, it is an invitation to discover and awaken an entirely new universe. In this exploration game, players control a protagonist who is trying to understand the truth about their own existence and the worlds they inhabit now.

Every world has a unique color and style that evolve as the player progresses. The transitions between them are barely noticeable, and the player’s actions can change the colors and shapes of these worlds, creating a singular connection between the player’s emotions, the puzzles solved, and each world’s own secrets.

These secrets and riddles involve playing with gravity, light, visions, and emotions. They also provide small fragments of the protagonist’s memory that unlock new areas and help explain the whole purpose of this mysterious universe. At the same time, mountains slowly rise, and the general landscape evolves around the player to a brand new form. “Our vision for the game is to create an immersive journey with a new artistic and philosophical approach to make ESSENCE an extraordinary experience that makes people look beyond the obvious. We want to show how just a little change of perspective can change a situation entirely,” said Tim and Ck, the founders of ONEVISION.

ONEVISION is currently gathering funds on Kickstarterto release ESSENCE. The initial goal of €60,000 is for a Windows PC and Mac release, while releasing on Xbox One and PS4, as well as VR support, are extended goals. Pledges starting at €20 grant a copy of the game somewhere around September 2016, and those interested in supporting the game outside of Kickstarter can help it to be Greenliton Steam. Further information, like a more complex explanation about the game’s worlds, can be found at the game’s Kickstarter page linked above, and future updates can be found on the developers’ Twitter.
