Screenshot Weekly (Mobile Edition!) – Big Bad Spanish, BulletBubble, Ice Cream Nomsters

Welcome back to Screenshot Weekly !

! Every Tuesday, IGM brings you exclusive early looks at upcoming games in various stages of development. This week, we’ve got a very special Mobile Edition of the segment! Due to the nature of mobile screenshots, the images will be displayed a bit differently from the normal segment. Still, the featured image introducing each game will always be original, and made especially for IGM, so you’ll see them for the first time right here! Without further ado, let’s take a look at this week’s screenshots (remember to click the pictures to appreciate them in all their fully-sized glory):

Big Bad Spanish

Sure, you can try Rosetta Stone or take night classes when trying to learn a new language. But for some people, being coddled or allowed to go at their own pace eventually turns to complacency and, ultimately, they give up on learning a new language. Enter Big Bad Spanish , a game that, according to solo developer Bob Byrne, “teaches through humiliating trial and error, brute force and immersion. Big Bad World.” The game features “battles” against a variety of people with different personalities and accents, which will affect the conversation options the player must use to proceed, and will feature additional side-missions that branch off from the story-driven encounters. Those interested in the trial-by-fire style of Big Bad Spanish can check out the demonow, and find out more information here.

BulletBubble

BulletBubble started out as simple Flappy Bird clone, but ended up adding a secondary game mode that became an integral part of the experience. While the traditional “Avoid Bubbles” mode is basically a standard clone experience, the “Explode Bubbles” mode actually provides a bit more added depth to the experience that makes it more worthwhile than a traditional clone. For the second mode, players will instead have to direct the bullet straight into bubbles without letting any slip past them, playing havoc on the minds of folks who have been conditioned to avoid objects at all costs. The game also has leaderboard support via Game Center, so folks can compete with friends for the best score in either game mode.

Ice Cream Nomsters

The Netherlands-based dev team at Firedroid must really enjoy irony, because for a studio that enjoys calling upon fire-powered automatons, they’re working on a project about Ice Cream. Ice Cream Nomsters is equal parts cute and silly; The point of the game is to “plan the routes of ice cream trucks that deliver ice cream to deliciously weird monster houses.” Of course, an ice cream trucker’s job is never easy, and the difficulty will ramp up once different monsters ask for different flavors while players control two trucks, safely guiding them on the quickest possible route to avoid blockades and other obstacles. There are a handful of different environments and a number of varied monsters, but at the end of the day, it’s a game about ice cream; what more could you need on a hot spring/summer day? What? Real ice cream? Wow, tough crowd. Anyway, more details can be found on the website, and the team can be reached on Twitter.

That’s it for this week’s Screenshot Weekly . Be sure to tune in next week to see more exclusive looks of the latest indie games in development!
