Let the Power of Magic take you An Octave Higher
Who are we without magic?
Who are we without magic? That is the central question explored in the recently released fantasy visual novel An Octave Higher , which is set in a technologically advanced world known as Overture. Renowned for its beauty, Overture is a society inspired by 19th century European architecture; the game features hand-drawn backgrounds and story illustrations. It is also the setting where Franz Byron, a magical science student, seeks to discover the secret of healing inanimate objects.
An Octave Higher lets players join Franz on a journey of faith, courage, and compassion, as he encounters a proletariat factory worker named Elise, a quietly simmering revolution, and a broken piano that somehow links them all together. Developed by Kidalang, the game promises a thought-provoking, novel-length story of 120,000 words with multiple different endings that are dependent on players’ decisions, their progress in the game, and their relationships with the cast of characters. Kidalang stated that An Octave Higher was constructed with a Western audience in mind, and aims to be a story which will linger in a player’s minds long after their virtual journey is over.
