‘Minecraft: Pocket Edition’ Hits A New Milestone
Just when you thought the Minecraft: Pocket Edition train couldn’t go any further along comes the news that a new sales mark has been passed, along with a bunch of new details regarding the future of the franchise in pocket form.

Officially, Minecraft: Pocket Edition has now reached 10 million sales units across its mobile platforms, that’s both iOS and Android. Not willing to rest on this number and call it a day, Mojang has some future plans for its portable iteration, the biggest of which is Minecraft Realms .

Realms is a new cloud based addition to the game, available via an in-app purchase, that will allow players to collaborate on projects by uploading them to the service at any time. That means you can work on a project offline before uploading it in a similar vein to a google document or something similar, where by other users can then log in and see that information or update it themselves. Mojang hasn’t commented on when to expect this service to be uploaded or how much it will be (outside of it being a subscription based service), though the early phase of release will have limited, first come first serve availability and won’t come at an initial cost.

There’s some minor updates headed for the Minecraft: Pocket Edition as well, mainly cleaning up the backend and menu systems, whilst some are still in an experimental phase and are unknown in terms of what they are or do for the time being. Users with high end portable devices will get a chance to test out these features first once they become available some time in May.
