Experience the Magic of the Rarámuri Tribe in Mulaka

Last year, a game called Never Alone was released.

was released. It told of myths and legends from the Inupiats, an Alaskan tribe, and proved how different cultures can touch players through storytelling and gameplay. Mulaka is being developed for PC by Mexican studio Lienzo, and also wants to tell a tale to players in the same way Never Alone did: Through culture, knowledge and fantasy.

Mulaka is an action-adventure game that intends to bring to life the old stories of the Rarámuri tribe, an indigenous tribe that still inhabit the Sierra Tarahumara in Mexico. The player’s objective is to prevent the fourth destruction of the world through defeating enemies and allying with demigods. It features weapons such as clubs, spears, and the Atlatl, and all will be required for specific puzzle situations in areas like caves and fields. Other features include the Sukurumae vision, which represents spiritual consciousness of the Rarámuri, as well as an Herbalism system, in which players will combine magical plants to use them in battle.

Concept art, not actual gameplay

For those who want to support the development of Mulaka, the game can currently be found on Kickstarter. If the $77,000 goal is achieved, the game will be released around July 2016. Backers that pledge $10 or more are guaranteed to receive a copy of the game when the it comes out, but will also receive preview builds prior to final launch via Steam Early Access.
