Project Tanuki – Kickstarter Launch
A team of seven developers has come together to work on developing a game currently known as Project Tanuki (Working Title).
(Working Title). With Evan Gruntz as the director, and the benefit of some experienced developers within the team, they’ve put together and launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the development cycle.
Project Tanuki is a high-speed battle racing game that will use inspiration for characters, powers, and backgrounds from Japanese culture. The game mechanics will allow for basic melee and ranged attacks, as well as different attributes that will allow for the player to customize their racer according to their strategy.
The game will allow up to eight players to come together in a competitive footrace. They can use powers and attacks against each other, and will need to coordinate this with platforming, avoiding obstacles, and continuing towards the finish line. The game isn’t only a multiplayer, but this is where the game is focused. Project Tanuki will provide a single player mode that will tell a simple story that won’t take itself seriously. In essence, the team believes that the story should come secondary to the gameplay.
Project Tanuki may turn out to be a fun game, but they’ve only just begun their Kickstarter campaignand have a ways to go. The campaign will continue until June 15 th, by which time the team will hope to have reached their minimum of $25,000. Project Tanuki will be released for PC, Mac, and Linux computers.
