39 Days To Mars: A Very Steamy Mission Indeed
Surrealix’s steampunk puzzle-adventure game 39 Days To Mars (which by the unwritten laws of the universe must have some mystical connection to 30 Seconds To Mars ) tells the epic story of two 19th Century explorers who have been given the honour of piloting HMS Fearful’s maiden voyage to the land of the Martians.
Part of Steam’s July batch of fresh game releases, 39 Days To Mars instantly captures the imagination with its offbeat, abstract style that reminded me very much of the blockbuster, Hugo. With the help of an intricately designed machine called the “Volatile Helioscopic Password Generator”, Sir Albert Wickes and The Right Honourable Clarence Baxter must not only keep the ship from falling apart, but keep themselves alive. And if you’re wondering how these two intrepid heroes are going to fuel their journey by using steam power… well, that makes two of us. Described as a “ coffee break” game, 39 Days To Mars is ideal for players who enjoy quick gaming sessions and the two playable characters lend themselves nicely to some co-op gameplay with a friend. If you enjoyed the puzzle-solving gameplay of titles likethis game could very well be right up your alley.
30 Days To Mars is expected for release on Earth sometime during 2015 for PC, Mac, and Linux. For more news on space, the final frontier, and the state of the universe in general, be sure to follow Indie Game Mag on Twitter.
