Mistwalker’s iOS Debut ‘Party Wave’ Is Now In Store

We don’t mention developer’s names all the time, and in case the name Mistwalker doesn’t ring any bells for you don’t blame yourself.

doesn’t ring any bells for you don’t blame yourself.  Founded by the creator of the popular Final Fantasy series, the company isn’t really on the radar of mobile gaming enthusiasts. Well, until recently. It took a while, but Mistwalker’s first game on iPhone, Party Wave , finally hit the store just a couple of days ago.

Turning away from the dramatic Lost Odyssey , Party Wave takes a far more cheerful and casual direction. Using line-drawing controls (think Flight Control ), the player must direct characters on a surfing pad toward a specific point on the map, while avoiding obstacles before the time runs out. The game then switches to the second segment of gameplay, as characters surf the coming waves.  Each character must be tapped as they fall towards the bottom of the screen to maintain their height, and tricks can be performed in the air to show off your incredible juggling skills. Your party size increases as you progress, promising a bunch of frenzy and fun with juggling.

While I haven’t surfed any waves in my life so far, I can pretty much imagine the patience of reaching and waiting for the wave as well as the elation of riding one. Considering how the game turned out, Hironobu Sakaguchi probably isn’t looking to bring the classic JRPG onto the iPhone. You definitely don’t need to have heard of Mistwalker to enjoy Party Wave , and anyone with an iPhone will.

For more information, visit the game’s page on Mistwalker’s website. Party Wave can be purchased on iOS App Storefor $1.99, universally for iPhone and iPad.
