Stray Cat Crossing – Catatonic Horror
Never have I been so glad to be allergic to cats – it gives me a good excuse not to terrify myself with this game.
Never have I been so glad to be allergic to cats – it gives me a good excuse not to terrify myself with this game. What? There aren’t any real cats involved? It’s… oh, it’s the name of one of the main characters. I see. Well then.
Stray Cat Crossing , the new game from Team Fridge, opens on Cat, a young girl crying on the side of the road. Naturally, the player offers to escort the scared little girl home. The problem comes when Cat forgets to return the scarf she borrows from the protagonist. An unacceptable faux pawpas on Cat’s part, and an apparently invaluable piece of clothing belonging to the player character, this incident triggers the events that follow. Soon after, the player follows Cat into an eery mansion, and so begins a night of horror.
The inside of the house turns out to be a veritable circus of strange and horrifying creatures, all of whom seemingly want to help you, and all of whom are probably actually trying to kill you. Horror games, totally not at all responsible for causing trust issues or paranoia.
In any case, Stray Cat Crossing is being developed with RPG Maker, and is set to release sometime either this month or the next, at least according to their Greenlight page. For those interested, there’s a demo available now from that same Greenlight page(or, more accurately, from the RPG Maker site), and the game’s development can be tracked on the Stray Cat Crossing tumblr.
