Horror, Mystery, and Puns Come Together in Bear With Me

If you’re playing a point-and-click game, you’d better expect to examine a lot of objects.

If you’re playing a point-and-click game, you’d better expect to examine a lot of objects. A whole lot of them. Poking and prodding at items and the environment is just what you do in those games, and if you’re lucky, someone has taken special care to make sure those items have a good or funny description. Indiefferent, developers behind private teddy bear detective game Bear With Me , are doing just that, loading the game up with puns, jokes, and sarcastic humor to keep its already silly storyline entertaining.

Amber’s brother Flint has gone missing, and even at just ten years old, Amber still feels up to the task of finding him, enlisting the services of a grizzled, retired private eye who just happens to be her teddy bear. While reluctant to take on another case, Ted E. Bear once again dons his suit and takes to the mean streets of Amber’s house to find out what’s happened. Will you help him, or will this tale end in an sea of stuffed limbs and fluff?

Beneath the ridiculous story are some interesting ideas. The game does go out of its way to be goofy and fun, but there is an evil presence at work known as Red. That presence provides some of the horror of the story, but Red is also playable as you progress through the game. While trying to hunt Red down and figure out what is going on, you also have to play as Red and do things to avoid detection and muddle Ted’s case. It’s an interesting mix that will add some complexity to what otherwise seems like a simple, funny game.

If you’re looking for a few humorous bear puns mixed with your mystery, you can give the game’s Alpha build a try right now, or help the game out with a Greenlight vote. I just couldn’t bear to not see this game get on Steam, after all.

I’ll see myself out.
