The Definitive Version of Duet Debuts on Steam
Those who missed out on the mobile incarnation of Duet, a game that requires unnerving concentration focused on two rotating spheres, are now able to play it from their PCs.
The hypnotic arcade game by Kumobius positions a red and blue orb at the bottom of the screen and has obstacles falling from above. Over time, the game throws increasingly more difficult platforms to avoid, requiring complex maneuvers from the player. The gameplay revolves around chapters which weave a subtle narrative into the experience.
Although not officially titled a “Definitive” edition, the PC version of Duet is the most complete to date. The original, nine chapter campaign is followed up by an “Epilogue” section with eight extra chapters, as well as an additional “Encore” expansion that contains five more. There’s a speed run setting for those who like an extra challenge, and it can be applied to any level in the game. Finally, there are daily and nightly challenges alongside usual Steam game features, like Achievements, cloud saving, and trading cards.
Duet was honored with multiple awards and showcases, including the Intel Level Up Grand Prize, PAX East 2014 Indie Showcase, and Australian Game Developer Awards for Best Audio and Best Game Design. Melbourne composer Tim Shiel compliments the arcade experience in Duet with his compositions.
Until August 10, Duet is on sale for $4.49. It’s compatible with Windows. Visit the game’s Steam pagefor some more information.
