Tallowmere Trains Players to Expect the Worst and Try Their Best
There are dungeon crawlers, and there are dungeon…well, crawlers .
Tallowmere may fit into the latter category for some players, as it’s designed to be difficult enough that it’s nearly torture to find your way through. But that’s just how developer Chris McFarland planned it. Players must utilize the shield on their back (literally turning around to block effectively) against enemies, attack at just the right time, and find as many weapon upgrades as possible without, well, dying. Death is permanent, and frequent enough that Tallowmere may not be for the faint of heart.
You know what they say about the Hydra…
The goal of each level is to find a key, in order to unlock a door to the next dungeon. Along the way, players encounter weapons such as a flamethrower, an ice wand, grenades, and a rocket launcher (because why not?), but be wary; each weapon has its own shortcomings, as well. Teleporters are randomly placed in levels, sending the hero to a random enemy. Bosses are ruthless and unforgiving, with smaller enemies swarming around the player at the same time they’re trying to dispatch the “big bad.” The fairies aren’t cute, the ogres aren’t like onions at all, and even the cats have spikes. Local co-op may ease the burden somewhat, but tread carefully in this procedurally-generated land of danger.
Tallowmere is coming to Steam, and will release on March 3, 2015. The listed price will be $4.99 USD, and can be purchased hereupon unlocking, so interested parties should add it to their wishlists to keep track of the game.
