Achieve Space Dominance in Interplanetary on May 12

It’s always a pleasure to gamers and developers to see a game leaving Early Access on Steam.

It’s always a pleasure to gamers and developers to see a game leaving Early Access on Steam. For Interplanetary, a multiplayer turn-based space artillery game in development by the Finnish studio, Team Jolly Roger, it’s nearly that time. The game is set in an interplanetary war, where each player controls a planet and is responsible for gathering its resources, expanding defenses and weapons, and destroying the other planets. Each space battle is completely procedurally-generated.

The twist of Interplanetary is that it’s set in space, but has no space-ships at all. Players must shoot the other planets’ cities by aiming on them directly from their own planet, trying to predict the projectile’s speed and path as it goes through space, also taking into account the gravitational fields of planets and celestial objects. Gravity turns out to be the essence of the game, and according to the developers, it’s treacherous, because the trajectory change can be the difference between beating the enemy or destroying your own planet.

Players can achieve space dominance using futuristic technology such as railguns, missiles and lasers. Resources can be collected through solar plants and mines, while kinetic and shield defenses should be raised next to the cities in case of opponent attacks.

The official release of Interplanetary on Steam is set for May 12th, after more than a year in Early Access. The game will be available for PC, Mac and Linux at a price point of $14.99. Other details can be found in the game’s official website.
