New Darkout patch brings major refinements
Indie micro-studio Allgraf have released a new patch for 2D craft-em-up Darkout .
Patch 1.2.3 brings a number of overhauls designed to improve the player experience – an overhauled user interface and a new tutorial, among other things. In addition, the developer claims to have fixed every single bug in the game.
We’ve yet to review Darkout , but the overall impression seems to be that it’s a fairly decent game very much in the vein of successful hits such as Terraria . Players will need to gather resources, explore a procedurally-generated world and craft homes, weapons and other essentials. Where it differs from Terraria is its sci-fi theme and a large amount of world lore to be found, fleshing out the background detail of the universe. It’s also rather attractive, eschewing the pixellated style of other games in the sandbox genre, instead opting for a moody look with some gorgeous lighting.
Darkout was originally released earlier this month on Steam . It normally carries an asking price of $14 .99/ £9.99/ €11.99, but it’s currently discounted by 15% as part of Steam’s Holiday Sale.
