Category Conquest: A Game about Learning English and Shooting Ducks

Are you crazy about learning languages?

Are you crazy about learning languages? Do you have a secret, burning passion for dictionaries? The team at English Bubble, an indie startup that specializes in teaching languages through games, recently released a game that helps you learn English the fun way. Category Conquest is designed to help ESL (English as a Second Language) learners pick up new words through engaging game mechanics, such as shooting ducks, smashing windows, and matching words to their corresponding pictures. Players also have the opportunity to try out some mini-games as they conquer new word categories like summer, the kitchen, and the jungle, while they improve their vocabulary bank.

English Bubble has also developed the ‘word bucket’, an accompanying app to Category Conquest. The word bucket functions as  a language dictionary and saves words that have already been learned, so players remember the same words when they appear again.  It has dictionaries available for learners of Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic, Korean, Japanese, Russian, and English, and even provides players with fun tests quizzing them on their new-found word skills.

You can test out Category Conquest for free today on Androidor iOS. Also, be sure to download the Word Bucket app, free for Androidand iOS, which can alternatively be downloaded via Amazon. To keep up to date with the latest linguistic developments, check out Category Conquest on Twitter .
