Aratog Studios have been busy working for three years on a fancy MMO game. It’s not an RPG, but an RTS set in space. BIBSOG Group, an international indie game publisher, is partnering up with Tartezal Holdings to publish Astro Lords: Oort Cloud and bring it to North American and European markets.
Astro Lords features traditional RTS gameplay, where a player can own up to six asteroids and build them to his or her wishes. There are power plants, factories, and mines, as well as units to hire like researchers and explorers. What’s more, the game mixes two other genres, employing different combat systems. Players will personally control their customizable aircrafts, stepping into a pseudo-arcade shooter that takes place in real-time battles between foes. Also, Astro Lords features strategic, raid-sized warfare, where players eventually acquire control of their asteroid and the ability to perform various missions involving mining, escaping, and invading others.
The game also employs many social aspects of online gaming, like gifting, ranking systems, and a friends list, in addition to the in-game diplomacy. Astro Lords is played in-browser with a client tool, and is built in the Unity engine.
Astro Lords is tentatively slated for a closed beta in North America and Europe on June 10th, with open beta beginning a week later. It is scheduled to officially launch on July 1st. Keep an eye on Astro Lord’s website for signups, as well as IGM for updates regarding this sci-fi MMORTS.
