Indie Intermission Sunday Round Up: Not Your Average Game
Almost as fast as the weekend begins it draws to a close a little too fast leaving us all a little sorry and wishing we don’t have to attend work tomorrow.
Almost as fast as the weekend begins it draws to a close a little too fast leaving us all a little sorry and wishing we don’t have to attend work tomorrow. I hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend so far and you still have at least 12 hours left so make good use of them and play some awesome free games!
As always clicking the title will take you to my original piece whilst clicking the image will take you to the game.
Fractal Fighter is a minimalistic bullet hell shooter that has you fighting your way through all manner of big ships that are just out to destroy you. The graphical design is nice and work very well in this space setting creating for a fun if not very difficult little game.
Dear Mother is a simple action arcade game in which you must try to avoid all the demons falling from the sky. The game was created in a very symbolic way but with minimal explination which allows you to impart your own meaning on the events and to be honest I do quite like this hands off approach.
Triple is a rather strange game in which you must progress through the different stages (each with their own style) to unlock the next. It’s quite interesting really as you get thrown into the middle of this hectic game with no explanation and you must figure out the win conditions on your own.
Grow is not your standard puzzle game as you must place all 12 items down on this globe but in the correct order to allow each and everyone of them to reach their max level. Due to the lack of explanation about which items go with which and the somewhat abstract nature of the game this can prove very challenging although very fun at the same time.
Sky Island was created for the GBJam and take the monochrome low res style to a distinctly nostalgic level reminding me of the golden age of the Game Boy. In Sky Island you must use all your platforming prowess to make it around the island and find the engine parts. Although the gameplay is quite run of the mill I feel the neat graphical style more than makes up for it and it proves a fun experience.
Thanks for sticking with me and I hope you’ve enjoyed playing some – if not all – of this weeks game. I feel like every week I have showcased some great talent over the week and look forward to hunting for more awesome games next week. I hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday and catch you tomorrow for an all new Indie Intermission .
