The third largest city in North America, and home to a rather prolific indie game scene, Toronto, does not have its own dedicated video game show. Hopefully, though, that all will be changing soon by breathing life back into GamesCon, for which a crowdfunding campaign just recently launched on Kickstarter.
GamesConis a three-day event that is jam-packed with all kinds of gaming goodness, including informative sessions, speakers, and tons more. The idea is already backed by industry legends such as Cliff Bleszinski, Ed Fries, and Jean-Paul Amore, and each of which – along with a few others, as well – are prepared to speak at sessions dealing with subjects ranging from “The Future of Gaming” to “How to Break Into the Gaming Industry.” It is a video game show that is ready to bring the spotlight to Toronto, bringing the gamers there a fun convention they can be excited for. If all goes well, One that is on the same scale as E3, and TGS to boot.
Should the campaign prove successful, Toronto will play host to their own video game convention in October.
The Kickstarter ends on August 1, and will hopefully have reached its goal of $50,000 by then. The campaign pageis worth a read, especially just to learn the history of it all, and is definitely one worth garnering the attention of the gaming community. Let’s hope to see this take flight, and provide us all with another game show to look forward to.
