Screenshot Weekly – Post-apocalyptic, Giant-Sword Wielding Animals
Welcome back to Screenshot Weekly !
! Every Tuesday, IGM brings you exclusive looks at upcoming games in various stages of development. The featured image introducing each game will always be original, and made especially for IGM, so you’ll see them for the first time right here! Without further ado, let’s take a look at this week’s screenshots:
Doko Roko
Remember the PSP game, Patapon ? Doko Roko has nothing to do with that, but whenever I say the title out loud, it makes me think of “pata, pata, patapon!” Anyway… solo dev Eric tells me that “ Doko Roko is a fast-paced, roguelike-like vertical platformer about slaying dreaming demons, drinking the blood of warlocks, and keeping faeries safe.” Beyond that, “you have been banished to an impossibly tall tower that stretches toward the heavens. Many folks and demons do live in this tower. You will speak to some of them and many of them you will destroy. You will use strange magicks that have been forgotten by time, and weird swords forged by terrible gods to do battle with the creatures who dwell within.” The game also boasts a legacy system where “across many lifetimes you will unlock strange, new abilities and transformations that alter your appearance and play-style.” To get all the latest updates, and to see more gifs and screenshots, you can follow the game’s ongoing development @dokorokogameon Twitter.
Nature’s Zombie Apocalypse
You ever wonder how animals would react during a Zombie apocalypse? Turns out… they think they’re people. As the team at Aniodedescribes, “Humans have succumbed to a Zombie plague. Desperate to prevent their extinction, animals have been forced to take what weapons remain and fight the undead. Great bears and enraged elephants wield everything from swords to freeze-rays in a chaotic crusade to ensure their survival.” Each animal has a unique “rage move” that can be used to thin the undead herds more easily; the duck sucks them into a tornado, and the elephant charges right through them. Additionally, “smaller animals can be strategically put down as defenses.” These include suicidal snails and flamingos you can fire. The game features multiplayer co-op for up to 8 players, a variety of weapons, multiple game modes, and controller support. Nature’s Zombie Apocalypse is currently on Steam Greenlightfor PC, Mac, and Linux, but the game is also scheduled to appear on Xbox One and Android TV.
