Screenshot Weekly – Racing with the Top Down, Demon-style

Welcome back to Screenshot Weekly !

! Every Tuesday, IGM brings you exclusive looks at upcoming games in various stages of development. The featured image introducing each game will always be original, and made especially for IGM, so you’ll see them for the first time right here! Without further ado, let’s take a look at this week’s screenshots:

Mukashi – Scrolls of Hope

Described as a top-down action adventure inspired by the ancient orient, Mukashi wants to weave a wonderful tapestry about a skilled warrior-scout on a mission to locate the legendary Scrolls of Hope. Aside from giving the player the option to select either a male or female Mukashi, further character customization allows for magical stones to be equipped, which offer in-game bonuses not yet specified. As for story details, the game begins centuries after the first Mukashi warrior left home in search of the Scrolls of Hope, an ancient text that describes a safe haven for the people living off the coast of Kanoko island who have long since lost communication with the central island, and their primary food source. As the newest Mukashi warrior, players will have to find the scrolls in order to save their people from demons, and hunger. Mukashi – Scrolls of Hope is an Ouya exclusive with a TBD release date. Check out the game’s official website, and follow along on Twitterand Facebook.

Racing Method

I’m not much of a racing fan. In any capacity. With the exception of Mario Kart , I don’t play any racing games, I don’t watch NASCAR, I don’t even like running. So in order for a racing game to catch my attention, it has to bring something pretty unique to the table. Racing Method , the upcoming 2D racing/strategy/simulation game from Nathan Nelson, has a few unique twists (and turns!) to justify further inquiry. Describing the style and mechanics of Racing Method , Nathan said that, “if you are familiar with Generally or Turbo Sliders , then you know what to expect. The entry bar is low, and simple driving physics and controls means anybody will be able to pick up and pay with relative ease.” Features include tire wear, fuel loads, pit stops, slip streaming (drafting), and more. It seems like players will have to plan out their races if they want to take home first prize. More info can be found on the Racing Method website, as well as on Twitterand Facebook.

Schlicht

According to developer Dominik Haas, one part of the three-man studio Team Schlicht, “ Schlicht is an atmospheric cooperative puzzle game for the PC. Two players take control of a shadow and a light sphere on their journey across many colorful levels and different challenges. The players need to cross black and white streams to finish a level. These streams deal a great amount of damage to the player with the same color.” One of the most intriguing features of the game is the ability for players to exchange health. The more health a player has, the larger their sphere is, but the smaller the sphere, the faster and more maneuverable it becomes. If your partner is in dire straits, you can shrink your own sphere in order to boost their health. (Giving you the perfect chance to make jokes about how they’re sucking the life out of you.) Schlicht began as a Game Jamentry, and can be downloaded in its most recent form for PC. Stay tuned to Twitterfor updates.
