The BoX Squares its Shoulders For Launch

It sadly seems very common for people to feel like they don’t fit in. In the case of White Clover Worlds’ The BoX, the player’s character actually has something to worry about: They play as a sphere in a box-shaped world.

Players must progress through the neon-shaded world of The BoX using various abilities based around colors. Shifting from one color to another grants an ability, though the dev does not explicitly state which colors correspond to which abilities, or even what these abilities are. The game is a platformer, and the developer has said that abilities confer different physics-related skills.

As hinted, there is a story, and it revolves around the player’s character, a sphere, being hunted by The BoX, the titular character and a square that apparently hates roundness. The method of defeating The BoX — or, more accurately, simply getting away from it — is through convoluted mazes of physics puzzles and platforming.

The BoX is releasing late this month (October) and those interested can learn more from its page on the developer’s website, and readers can talk to the devs about the game through their Twitteror their Facebook. See more of the game through White Clover Worlds’ YouTubechannel, subreddit, and Steam Greenlight page. The BoX will be available for Mac and Windows PCs, and will cost $6.00 USD.
